EMERGENCY ELECTRICAL SERVICE

Available 24/7 — When it can't wait until morning, call Sparks.

⚡ CALL NOW: (608) 790-1334

If you smell burning, see sparking, or have no power — call immediately: (608) 790-1334. For life-threatening emergencies, call 911 first.

What Counts as an Electrical Emergency?

Not every electrical issue needs an emergency call — but these situations do. If you're experiencing any of the following, don't wait until business hours.

Sparking Outlets or Panels

Visible sparks from an outlet, switch, or electrical panel are a serious fire and shock hazard. Shut off the circuit if you can do so safely and call immediately.

🔥

Burning Smell from Wiring

A burning plastic or electrical smell — even without visible smoke — means wiring insulation may be overheating. This is how house fires start. Leave the area and call us.

🏠

Complete Power Loss (No Outage)

If your home loses power but your neighbors don't, the problem is inside your system — at the service entrance, meter, or main panel. This needs immediate diagnosis.

🔄

Breakers That Won't Stay Reset

A breaker that trips repeatedly is protecting you from an overloaded or faulted circuit. If it won't stay on after one reset attempt, stop resetting it and call — something is wrong downstream.

💡

Flickering Lights with Buzzing

Lights that flicker across multiple rooms combined with a buzzing or humming sound often indicate a loose main connection or failing panel — a fire risk that needs same-day attention.

🌩️

Downed Power Lines Nearby

If a storm brings down lines near your property, stay far away and call your utility first (Xcel/WE Energies), then call us to inspect your service entrance for damage before restoring power.

💧

Water Near Electrical Panel

Flooding, pipe leaks, or condensation near your electrical panel or outlets is an electrocution hazard. Do not touch any electrical components — call us and, if needed, your utility to disconnect service.

🌡️

Hot Switch Plates or Outlets

An outlet or switch cover plate that's warm or hot to the touch means the wiring behind it is overloaded or arcing. Stop using that outlet immediately and call for same-day service.

What to Do Before We Arrive

Follow these steps to protect yourself and your family while you wait for our electrician to arrive.

  • Don't touch anything sparking, smoking, or unusually hot. Electrical shock and arc flash can be fatal. Hands off.
  • Don't use water on an electrical fire. Use a Class C fire extinguisher or get out and call 911. Water conducts electricity.
  • Turn off the main breaker if you can safely reach the panel. This cuts power to the entire home and limits damage. Only do this if you can reach it without going near water or smoke.
  • Unplug devices in the affected area — if there's a burning smell from a specific room, unplug everything in that area.
  • Evacuate if there is any smoke or fire. Your safety comes before your home. Get out, call 911, then call us from outside.
  • Call Sparks at (608) 790-1334. We answer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Tell us what you're experiencing and we'll dispatch immediately.
  • Don't re-enter until cleared. If we advise you to wait outside, please do so. We'll tell you when it's safe.
